hi, i am new to these forums, just came on to see if i can get any advice.

i am 14yrs old and have always suffered from allergies and chronic asthma. i am on medication 21 times a day and oxygen therapy at night and often much of the day time too. although i am constantly in and out of hospital there seems to be nothing they can do and my asthma seems to be taking control of my life. i am also allergic to animals, wheat, nuts and glucose, so as you can imagine, my life is pretty boring.

just wondering how others control their asthma?

thanks

I have been suffering from asthma for last 2 years and asthma really sucks. The other night, I couldn't seem to breathe right. My friend kept making me laugh a lot. I took too much of my inhaler, and got the shakes, and had a hard time sleeping.

Just thought I would share...most of the time my asthma is under control but it reared its ugly head in the last few days...

sorry to hear that your asthma is so bad. What medications are you on ? I have had asthma for 9 years. i am 23 now. I have mild to moderat asthma. for a few years i was on pulmicort turbuhalor 200 twice a day and then switched to asmanex 220 twice a day but eventually caused heart palpatations. then recently i have been on flovent diskus 250 twice a day but this medication seems to not work as well as the asmanex and palmicort. Monday im picking up alvesco 80 twice a day. Im hoping that this new medication will bring me back to breathing normal 24/7. I am also on singulair 10mg which helps allot. I am relieved i have never had to go to the hospital in 9 years. I have found that exercising and just taking something for my allergies and obviously taking my controller medication has kept things under control. Recently things havent been so good becacuse i have had to switch medications left and right. Explain your condition a little more i am curious ?

Be sure to stay away from the things you are allergic to.
Taking omega 3 fatty aciRAB helps me alot. I eat 1-2 handfuls of blanched, raw walnuts every morning in oatmeal. It keeps me off of all inhalers except when allergies are really bad.

Hey All,

I started taking advair a little over a week ago and I didn't like it at all. It made me feel dizzy and I have anxiety disorder with panic attacks so when I heard about advair causing sudden death in some asthmatics it made me very nervous. My doctor gave me singular and I don't start it until tonight. Is anyone else taking singular? Just wanting to know if others have taken advair or singular and what side effects it gave them.

Hi,
I just read on the internet somewhere that there is a possible new treatment starting, but may be a while where they insert a tube into the windpipe and use heat to actually change the width of the airpipe making asthma decrease dramatically. I will try to find the article, but try googling surgery for asthma and you may find it. i hope someday something like like will help you get relief. I hope you feel better quick.

It's called Bronchial thermoplasty. Maybe this is something your family could look into and ask you doctors about.
