i'm in minnesota and the temps just raised quickly to the 80 degree mark. now I've started a pot with germinated seeds of Butter Crunch Lettuce and it's sitting inside my house by the patio. i don't want it outside, because of pests, and there is a swamp nearby. tons of puppy dogs here too that just run around outside of their yard space at times. So I thought a container garden would be a good try.

From what I hear on yahoo answers here I will not have any luck growing my plants by the windowsill. Also that it is too hot for lettuce and the seeds will bolt if kept outdoors.

the sunlight that comes in from my patio is pretty adequate during the day hoursand afternoon, but towards the evening it is swept off by close hanging trees...

i would be willing to move the plants around to get better light or even keep them outside partially but i am terrified of getting pest on my plants... so please give advice as you see fit.

i really want these pots to grow, i also have a bunch of lettuce seedlings that haven't been planted yet (they're in a baggie) and i'm not sure if i should let them grow in there for a while or plant them.. or what to do.

the little seedlings tryed growing through the paper towels by the way.. so it was hard to pick them off and plant them eithout breaking them.
