Contacts Not Saving

Hi,
I am using the LG620 handset running Android and recently when I add a new phone contact, after a few seconds it disappears and does not save. My partner who is using the Google G1 is also having the same problem (as we originally thought it may have been the handset)

I was considering a factory reset - however I did think if this did not clear up the problem I would be left with no contacts and no way of saving them.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Try entering them in your google contacts and then sync your phone.

Sadly that didn't work either, my phone has never really synch'd properly.
