Constipation question/suggestions

So I have been constipated for 3 days. Yesterday morning I took 3 Dulcolax, didnt work. Last night I took some Magnesium Citrate which started working around 3:00am. I had 3 or 4 BM's last night, all water (not much of it though) + bits of lettuce which i had for dinner. I still feel constipated, but don't know if I am. I still feel bloated and , sluggish, and im retaining water. What is going on? Am I still constipated after 3 dulcolax and a full bottle of Magnesium Citrate?! Plenty of water as well.
 
kyuss: I'm sorry you're dealing with this. Other than what you're doing to try to get things working again, I can only say that you need to make changes in your diet to make sure you don't get this way again. You need to add more fiber, drink the water, and also add more "P" fruits to your diet - Peaches, pineapple, prunes, pears, plums, and eat beets and nuts. Nuts are a good source of magnesium. Eat fish, like salmon, that has omega 3 fatty acids. Also, eating dark chocolate will help move you along. Think of exlax - what is it? Dark chocolate. It's the magnesium!!! Even take some magnesium in a pill form. I take magnesium stearate, not citrate.

Also add more green leafy vegetables to your diet - more salads and spinach.

Try to stay away from the BRAT diet when you're constipated - Bananas, rice, apples and toast. They're too binding. If things don't improve you might need to see your doctor.
