Hello all. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar or has any opinions on what the cause of this problem may be.

For the past two and a half months I have been suffering from constant chest pain front and back the full length of my ribcage. I have also had trouble keeping my food down alot of the time and have lost quite alot of weight recently. In regard to throwing up I have tried changing my diet but there seems to be no pattern to what I can keep down. I am also very weak and struggle to do any form of strenuous activity.

The pain in my chest is a constant dull ache with constant sharp stabbing pains. I would put this pain at an 8 without medication and a 6 with medication. Also, so far it has caused me to pass out four times.

I have been to my GP and been refered to a heart specialist. So far my many ECG's and blood tests have all been normal. I have also done an exercise test, had multiple chest x-ray's and had an echo test on my heart, neither of which showed anything out of place.

I have been given medication for various muscular disorders and epelepsy. None of these courses of medication produced any results. Apparently because there is no pain when pressure is applieed this rules out alot of conditions.

I am currently on a daily dose of 800mg tramodol and 900mg gabapentin. Obviously the tramodol is for the pain, although it only slightly improves things. The gabapentin is suposed to help me sleep but as i have had maybe an hours sleep in the past four days it doesn't seem to be helping.

It is getting to the point now where i am stuggling to hold it together such is the impact this is having on my life. I am also starting to get the impression that as they cannot diagnose the problem the doctors are losing interest (this could be paranoia on my part!)

Any thoughts or similar experiences would be greatly welcomed.

sick: it sounRAB like heartburn or acid reflux. It could even be IBS. Have you had allergy tests? The epilepsy meRAB sound strange. It doesn't sound like seizures. There's even something called costochondritis that you could look into. Have you been checked for diabetes and thyroid? Having thyroid problems can make you weak. It's too bad they can't find something to tell exactly what it is. Your body isn't feeling this way for no reason. It's trying to tell you something isn't right. Find a new doctor if you have to and keep seeking answers. Someone has to know something. Have your red and white blood cells checked too to make sure there's no problem there. I wish you luck.

92261: Thanks for your reply. I ruled out heartburn or acid reflux as my brother had a serious problem with producing too much stomach acid an I had test done for this when i was suffering swollen stomach glanRAB a few years ago. They have tried me on mefaminic acid and some other anti-inflamatorys for costochondritis to no effect. I will deffinitley mention thyroid, and blood cells at my next appointment with my GP. Unfortunatly I have already exhausted my options as to seeing other doctor as I am severly resricted with living on the Isle of Man, and with the cost pf private thats not an option.

Many thanks for your response
