Constant aching feeling in the bone in my left arm?

For the past couple of months my left arm has been aching, and little by little it has gotten worse. At first I thought maybe my carpal tunnel was flaring up, but it wasn't starting in the hands it was coming up by my shoulder and going down into the arm as if the pain was right down into the bones. even my wrist just ached as well. I have had nights where I couldn't sleep because the pain is so bad, it is constant ache and I have no idea what could cause it. I am unable to do anything w/ that arm because now it increased the pain.

Any ideas of what it could be, I have also had a increase in headaches where as they start in my neck and work there way to the top of my head, once night it was so bad that it kicked in a migraine and I had to go to the hospital for a pain shot to relieve the pain...any ideas if the two could be connected?

just wondering here since you mentioned you have carpal tunnel as well? exactly how did they determine that CT dx? what types of real testing were done that led your doc to that CT dx? unless there was VERY specific testing done that would most definitively have shown a true level of CT syndrome going on, this all just could be stemming from some type of real spinal issue within your c spine area and not what has been told to you is CT at all. hand/finger and arm involvement when the c spine has certain types of problems is NOT that unusual. its called radiculopathy and does at times and depending upon just what nerves are being affected up in that c spine, feel like his could be CT when its simply that median nerve itself up at that c spine level that is mimicing symptoms of CT only because that median nerve IS the very same nerve that is involved with true CT syndrome. the median is the ONLY nerve that actually runs thru that carpal tunnel.

my best advice to you right now, when you just look at every symptom you have going on here would be to at least obtain an MRI of your c spine. with a contrasting agent that would just give better clarity of certain findings that do not always show up as well when it is not used. just knowing what is or is not actually present up there as a hard finding that very easily could be affecting nerves would kind of dictate any next steps you need to take right now. but i would seriously just see your primary about referring you for that one MRI on your c spine. this hopefully would show the true source of your ongoing symptoms in some real way. tho you can have actual CT syndrome with also having very real c spine issues too, if this was not actually even properly tested and merely a "guess' by your doc at the time, there could just be something up there impacting your median nerve from the spinal level and not within that tunnel that is appearing as CT. this would be like i mentioned above, radiculopathy from spinal problems impacting nerves or even a persons cord too. just really push for getting that c spine MRI. i hope this is nothing overly major going on up there for you, but the only way you are really going to know anything is with that MRI being done. you are simply displaying enough symptoms at this point that this MRI would be a normal course or test for your doc to simply order for his patient, so that part should not be any real problem for you. good luck and please make certain that you yourself also obtain a copy of that MRI report for your own records too. very important to have your own copies of any testing done on us. please let me know what you find out, FB

My left arm ached for 2 years when I was in my early 20's. Every Doctor I saw just fobbed me off. I finally went to one who bothered to order an XRay of my cervical spine (neck). I had a very slight narrowing in the space between one of the vertebraes. I had some physio and the pain went. I hope your problem is solved as easily as mine.

I had a couple of surgeries in my other hand for CT, and electronic testing done and at that time which mind you was several years ago they said I had CT in the left hand as well but it wasn't that bad yet, but I also do have Sciatica, Coxadinia, and some curvature of the spine. It has been several years since I've had any x rays or MRI's so maybe it is time for a new one, because at this point the pain in my left arm is getting worse daily.

The surgeries never worked in my right hand and also done injections that never worked, so i don't want to go down that road if that is what it is, but I was always told that CT pain doesn't go above the elbow area....and my radiates from the shoulders downward.

My neck is so tight everyday that it is actually swelled at the top of my spine, so maybe there is a connection there, but I am already on pain medication, so I don't want an increase of that I just want the pain to go away...
