I need to keep some with me all the time, but I never put more than 10 pills in the bottle I keep in my purse. In the off chance that the wrong person saw me taking it, even though I'm careful not to make it obvious, if they wanted to rob me, they'd only get a few.

Howie, you've gotten some good answers here. I'll just add that I think you'll know when you've reached the point that it's time. You do want to be sure that it's the right decision. There's no undoing it once it's done, and it's a big surgery with a long recovery time. I've had two fusions and would absolutely make the same decisions again. For me, it was the only real solution.

Make sure you have several opinions from spine specialists in different groups.

There are lots of us here who have been through it and will try to help you from our own experiences. You might want to read the thread at the top called "post surgery tips." Even though you haven't made the decision yet, it will give you kind of a picture of what recovery is like.

Take care,
Emily

Hi and i just wanted to say that i had a disectomy with a fusion and pins and screws put in back in 2002. I did not know everything i know now or i would have tried everything they all talk about. I was having alot of problems and then it was pushed alot futher from an automobile accident and the doctor that did it was not very upfront with me. Anyway i did alot of stuff and i just found out last may that my screws were broke and later found out from another doctor that the fusion never healed.

I was pain free for like 3 years i really think if the fusion would have taken everything would be ok. But that is why i am having all these problems cause i was told just repairing the screws would not work.

So on the 28 of this month a am having a 360 which is anterior/posterior surgery where they go in through the front and fuse it again then flip me over and take out all the hardware and fuse it then put i all new hardware. And i will be sure to follow ALL directions this time. I have learned alot at this board about the BLTs no bending lifting or twisting. I was out shopping like 3 weeks after the first surgery and one of the twins fell out the shopping cart so the first thing i picked her up not paying attention to it but i see now and will not do that this time. But all my kiRAB were little and now they are 13 and the twins are 9 so they will help me alot this time.

But if you do please just follow all the directions given.

Hi I'm new to this board and did place a post under SI-Joint, I just wanted to see if there is anyone out there that read that post could tell me what kind of pain you had with L5-sI. I have had a fusion at L4-5, but the pain I'm having now is very different and I think it is more my SI-Joint. Is there anyone that has had an SI-Joint fusion? If so could they please give me a reply. I'm new to the site so I'm hoping I will see any replies I get. Just when I thought things were going well for me. I have problems. I went back to work in 2005 and now I'm scared. Any help from anyone would be great.

Thank You
Rae
