Connecting iPhone to wifi without SIM card?

I had an original iPhone, but I bought the newest one when it came out last summer. Well, I dropped that one, cracked the screen, then fixed the screen, but the actual touch screen broke and I can’t use it. I canceled my iPhone plan but I’ve recently dug out the old iPhone I had. I put all my music on it and am just using it as an iPod for right now, but it won’t let me connect to my home wifi. Is there any way to do this? (There is not a SIM card in the phone.)
