Connecting a converter to an old TV, VCR and rabbit ears.?

We have tried several times, following the instructions in the Zenith handbook, to connect the converter to our TV, VCR and rabbit ears but is just doesn't work.. We can call the support number but maybe someone out there can tell us what we might want to try before making the phone call. Thanks.

ANT OUT to the ANT IN of the VCR

the VCR should already be connected to your TV, so I shouldnt have to explain that side of things..

tune your VCR to channel 3 (or 4, depending on what channel is selected on the converter box)

tune your TV in to your VCR...

another option would be to connect the antenna to the ANT IN
then use the yellow, red, white RCA wires to connect to the VCR, then tune your VCR to AUX

if you are able to get the menu screen of the DTV box then run the channel scan... if no channels come up, then you are going to need a better antenna... if you can not get to the DTV box menu screen, then you wired something wrong..
 
I second everything Joe said. One thing to double-check: the back side of the converter will most likely have a switch for selecting analog channel 3 or 4 for the converter's output. The one you choose depends on your local channels: if you have a channel 3 in your area, pick 4 on the converter to minimize any interference. Or vice versa.

Then, set the tuner of the VCR to the same channel (3 or 4) and leave it there permanently.

Finally, set the tuner on your TV to the same channel (3 or 4) and leave it there permanently. The only channel changing you do is the digital channels on your converter.
