Confused... question about Colposcopy

I went in and had my first ever abnormal pap, followed by a colposcopy which came back normal. 6 months later had another abnormal pap, followed by another colposcopy which came back normal. 6 months later had a normal pap. Was then told to come back in a year. I thought that you had to come in every 6 months until have 3 normal paps in a row. Does this mean that because my 2 colposcopies were normal and then my last pap was normal that was considered 3 normal paps in a row?

I always thought that it was two normal paps in a row and then back to the yearly check. You can certainly request one more 6 month pap and then return to the yearly if that come back normal.

Did they happen to run an HPV test on any of these paps. That may be the other reason if your HPV came back negative.

Hi Brenda, thanks for the reply.. I called my doctor and asked about the HPV test and they told me that yes they ran that test and it came back negative. So you were right, that was another reason why I was told to come back in a year.
