Confused if I should pay LTD with my SSD lump sum

I went into my local Social security office today to inquire when I would recieved my lump sum from a SSD claim that I had appealed several times since 2007. They told me today i should receive my check in 7 to 10 days, I am so confused if I will have to pay back the entire amount to my LTD insurance which was through my employer. It is a nice chunk that could help me with my bills. I am currently back to work with a different employer. My Ltd has been close for over a year now. I did contact them and the rep that was handling my case was not there so they left a message for her to contact me tomorrow.
please any advice will be greatly appreciated. I honestly don't want to pay them.

My first impression is why would you have to pay back the LTD? You paid for the insurance and you used the benefit when you became disabled. That is the reason for choosing to pay for long term disability insurance.
You applied for SSD which you also pay to have through your years of working and paying into the social security system, so yes you also should be getting the benefit. I certainly would not pay anything back to the insurance company and if you do not hear back from the rep who handle your case, than I would suggest that you NOT make a second call.
I am glad that you are back working and feeling better.
