My two year old rat has a respiratory infection & I took her to the vets around a week ago, she wasn't eating,was badly dehydrated and could hardly move. The vets kept her in for 24hrs and gave her anti-biotics and fluids and when she returned home she was active again, eating and drinking normally.
She is 5 days into her anti-biotics and still eating and drinking perfectly fine, but I'm worried if she is in any kind of pain and discomfort. When she is in the cage she walks about for a while but most of the time is laying flat on her stomach breathing very rapidly and looks very uncomfortable and distressed, but as soon as I open the cage she is lively and wants to get out, walk around the room and climb all over me.
So, I am very confused as to whether she is getting better or worse!
