confused about Nikon SB-600 and older flashes?

the SB-600 is a 'newer' flash yet it has no port for external batteries. Didn't nikon have older models that had this option? Why doesn't the 600?

do you know of older models that would work with a D200?

you could put the camera in manual then use a studio flash unit on AC or buy any brand portable unit that can have another battery pack pluged into it, then connect the chosen tool to the mighty d200
