I share a classroom with two other teachers. They have been using negative comments during circle time, such as "You are wasting my time!" Throughout the three hour class, the "challenging" children receive more of the negative comments, and the "good, well-behaved" children receive more praise and positive comments. I have attempted to talk with the "challenging children", go to their eye level and talk calmly about their actions and consequences to their actions, but one of the the teachers will literally interupt me with a negative remark about the child and will tell the child to "Walk away" or anything to that sense. I have attempted to explain and defend myself to my co-teachers, but they will interupt me with whatever they have to say. Now the class is getting out of hand, some parents have already switched out their kids, and others literally blame their own children for being "bad". The parents of the "good" kids don't really know how their child is doing socially and emotionally with their peers. To top it off, the director has not been able to help the situation, and now the two teachers strongly dislike the director. Should I stay until the end of the school year and then leave? Or should I bail on both the teachers and children now? Its not even halfway throught the school year, and I'm in over my head with this stress.
