Spoke with T-Mobile at 5:00 a.m. Pacific time.

They are having issues with Wi-fi / UMA / uma in the following region:

Los Angeles
The Inland Empire
San Diego

They are "workin on it."

Phone may be showing EDGE network only.

Same sypmtoms here from time to time.

Just to clarify:

I called T-mobile regarding their Wi-fi UMA/uma/EDGE connection. Stated I was having problems with this: (Router set up correctly - theiir Wi-fi router) and phone set up correctly (certificates in place, etc)

The lady stated: We have had a brief outage late yesterday and have ongoing issues in that area with some WI-fi and UMA / uma connections. "It's a known issue we have logged and we're workin on it."

I'm supposed to recieve phone notifications of their progress and recommendations.

So for now, that's what I have learned.

cool, thanks for confirming this with tmo...saved me some trouble...im in long beach area and its been down for almost 2 full days now.

I just reset my phone and "UMA" is now showing versus last 2 days showing "uma". I sent a test email while "UMA" is showing and mail came in! I am @ UC Riverside.

What do you mean by reset? Pop the battery? "Wipe Handheld" in Security? Reinstall the OS with desktop manager?

I've got the same issue, in San Bernardino.

I just got off with T-Mobile. They tell me it's related to the SoCal "no handoff" issue, and the projected date for resolution is October 22. !!!!

He gave me some bonus whenever minutes for the long delay, but said that was all he could do. He did say it might be earlier. Has anyone heard similar?

wow if that true i guess tmo will be paying this months bill. if it doesnt fix in a day or so i will call and complain and be compensated.

It does seem a bit absurd. The guy who picked up initially looked for known issues in his system, and all he could find was the no handoff issue. He then put me on hold and said he was going to call the technical guys and see if they knew about my issue--unable to make any calls on UMA. He comes back after 2 or 3 minutes and says he talked to them, they know about it, and its related to the no handoff issue. It should be fixed by Oct. 22.

Maybe he just went to the restroom while I was on hold, but he seemed like a fairly competent guy.

Here is something a little puzzling.

It shows only EDGE on the main screen.

But when Browsing on the BB Browser - wi-fi shows up!

With the JavaScrip off - these screenloads are downright "quick,"

I have been noticing this too. I have wifi on and connected but it doesn't show UMA or uma just the icon. Doesn't even show the wifi signal.

I also turned my JavaScript off and notice a speed increase. I also un checked style sheets. And have mine on MS IE for emulation mode. Not sure if that helps.

With the issues going on, I am just going to leave my wifi off for now. Save myself the battery and just use my EDGE, like the "old days"

Funny, now I've got UMA with full wi-fi signal. Same Access Point as earlier, same location-- same everything. Seems fixed in this neck of the woods.

iv got the same issue i have wifi but no UMA this blows i have been thinking it was something with my wifi or router. hope it is fixed soon.
