I leave for the US Navy boot camp in 14 day's. After boot camp, I will be ordered to go to my follow up schooling for my job. This is a barracks and is similar to a college dorm; i.e. we can have our xboxs, monitors, laptops, ect ect.
Anyways this is the first form of sending anything I have ever done in my life, never really even stepped foot inside of UPS. So what I am trying to do is get EVERYTHING I want to bring with me packed up and boxed, so I simply need to send my mom a shipping with my address after I am out of boot camp and she can ship them out to me; mainly to ensure that everything I need gets shipped instead of her poking around my room and probably forgetting 50% of what I need.
Ok so here are the main things
Computer parts: I do not have space for my whole tower in A school, but I more then likely will be able to reassemble a PC when I am done with schooling, so I parting out my motherboard, cpu, ram, and video card for later use.
1. Is it ok to keep my CPU in socket when i ship?
2. Is it ok to keep my ram in socket when i ship?
3. Will it be ok to re-use the anti static bag that came with the original box of this mobo?
4. Do i box it with bubble wrap? peanuts? both?
Part 2: My monitor and xbox.
1. How would I go about shipping a monitor? 21inch widescreen. Bubble wrap the hell out of it and stick it in peanuts?
2. How would I go about sending an Xbox? again, bubble wrap + peanuts?
3. Does anything listed above need anti-static bags that I did not mention? (there is a computer shop by my house that sells them cheep, so I have no problem and picking some up)
Any help is much appreciated. Like I said I am trying to ensure its done RIGHT so nothing gets broke, and before I leave so there is no stress on my mom. Just a simple taping of a shipping label and its ready to rock and roll.
Thanks in advance.
