computer problem crashing when i play large media files anyone got any ideas to

stop it happening? I have a HP computer that tends to crash when playing large avi or matrushka files.
I have done a full scan of the motherboard, graphics card and processor, but not been able to find anything wrong.
The computer is a HP pavillion slimline.
Anyone any ideas as to how i can solve the problem?
