Computer Layout Out (Weird and Hard-to-Explain, but necessary!)?

Okay, I'm going to attempt to explain this to you: When I downloaded a CD-Rom from my collection into my computer, it was fine. But when I went to play the game, my computer screen like zoomed in, like the resolution to fit the game. Usually it goes away after I close the game, but it didn't. Now my web browser doesn't fit the whole web page in the window and it makes things really difficult to view. It also made my computer slow down because it takes so long to load those humongous images and text. Do you know what this is and how to fix it? Thanks.
