I've heard withdrawals may lead to death; is this due to malnutrition and dehydration, or something else?

Just trying to see what I need be wary of during the coming off period.

My fiance took the last one this morning - just wanting to be prepared.

Seizures may occur during withdrawals. Also, if the person has severe dihareah and vomiting, they can become dehydrated. I would think the seizures would be the most critical.

GOOD LUCK TO YOU GUYS!

You and your fiance will be in my thoughts and prayers! Will you please keep us posted? If things get too bad.. Take him in to the hospital and they will help with the withdrawal.

Good Luck!

This is a difficult question to answer without details. But normally no it will not cause death. However, it all depenRAB on so many things...and his detox from the drug will also depend on a lot of things. How long and at what dosage he has been on the drug. If he is going cold turkey he will feel sick with all the signs/symptoms of the flu type things...stomach cramps/nausea/vomiting/diarrhea/restless ...to name a few. But there are also prescription drugs that can help him though the rough spots so it is too bad that he didn't go to a doctor for some advice/help. A friend of mine took over the counter Benadryl 100mg every 6 hours to help with some of the symptoms but that is something for each individual to decide on. Just be prepared for a person that is going to be sick and cranky for about a week or two.

Reading some of the info here really helps make this all more bearable - knowing you aren't alone makes the difference sometimes.

Thank you all very much.
