Thanks for taking the time to read this question, it may be a little long but please bear with me! Ok! Well, I come from New Zealand and am currently a junior in high school. My main goal in life has always been to go to a university in the United States. My parents are over bearing and protective and do not wish for me to travel overseas as an international student for college but I feel as though I need to get away and start to live life for and by myself. I can't really tell you my G.P.A. or results for my SAT's or anything because New Zealand doesn't really work with GPA's and I haven't sat a SAT yet but I will be at the beginning of next year. I'm a reasonably smart student and am very capable of achieving good grades. So, my question is : how much would it cost in total (tuition, rent, personal items e.t.c) for me to attend a college like UCLA? And also is it possible for me to get any loans? oh, and also is there a limit on how many scholarships you can obtain? You see, I'm paying for EVERYTHING by myself. My parents won't help fund me in any way but that's alright because I'm sure it'll be rewarding for me to obtain my goal in the end I worked out I should have saved at least $25000 US dollars prior to starting college so will that help alot?
Also this whole Visa situation confuses me, so if you do not mind, can you please explain to me about it? Oh, and I also have people I know in the US who could possibly help me as being a co-signer or something? I'm not quite sure what its about though? This process seems SO daunting but I am willing to push through and get through it Thanks for reading this!
