College Financial Aid Information?

I'm a high school senior looking to attend college next year. One of the colleges I'm accepted at and strongly leaning towards is in Massachusetts, not my home state of Michigan. Which state's financial aid options (such as grants) should I apply for? Which state would I be considered a resident of in one or two years?

The college I'm looking at, Northeastern University, requires the CSS Profile for financial aid purposes. What is this? Does it have any fee and is it reputable or reliable? Is it useful for colleges other than those which specifically require it?

When applying for FAFSA, which year's tax information do I need for my parents? Will I use 2009's tax return information or will I need to wait until my parents apply for 2010 tax returns?

My parents are currently divorced. My mother has remarried. I live primarily with my mother and stepfather, but spend several days a week at my father's house. My mother is not currently working but my stepfather works at a relatively high paying middle class job, making more money than my father. Whose finances affect my financial aid award? Which of my parents information will I need to provide for FAFSA? Who am I considered dependent of for FAFSA purposes?
