I am going to Guayaquil, Ecuador this summer to volunteer. I am going to backpack for an additional month and the one place I have dreamed of going to is Machu PIcchu. I am on a really small budget (about $1,500 for the month) is there any way I can get there with affordability in mind? Will Machu PIcchu be the only place in Peru I could see in a month, considering my budget and transportation limitations? I wanted to do the Inca trail but have no idea how to go about getting that reserved? Should I just keep the extra month backpacking through Ecuador? Is it worth going to Peru on a shoestring budget? I appreciate all the help!
