cold in my eye how to get the swelling down

When I got off work today my eye lid felt a little funny and a bit sore. About a half an hour later my eye lid was starting to swell. Four hours later I can hardly see out of my eye because of the swelling. I'm sure it is not a bug bite. It's either from my allergies or I have a cold in my eye. (only my left eye is swollen) Any ideas to get the swelling down. Thanks Lori
 
Swollen eye lid could be what's called a sty, an infection of your eyelid. The best way to treat it is with prescription antibiotic topical.

Meanwhile, try warm compresses several times a day.
