Cold feet and numb leg

Ok this is on behalf of someone i know.

It started off in 2004 where he had a Anthroscopy operation in the left knee. In 2008 he had more pains so he returned to the doctor who said he has more knee problems, he was offered another operation or to wait it out and see what happens, He decided to wait as he rather not take another operation.

He then started to get a burning feeling in his left thigh, wasnt too bad only a light burning feeling. Soon after he had a little accident where he fell onto a concrete slab, soon after that he noticed the burning feeling got stronger, and started to feel it more. Recently he has noticed a pattern, where if he stands for long periods of time the pain starts to build up where he needs to rest and sit down, So he has to keep sitting > standing > sitting > standing etc.

That pattern lasted a while and recently during the last week he would stand for a couple hours then need to take a break and sit, but once he got up it was fine for the rest of the day..

Today he started to get very cold feet in BOTH feet and is thinking it might be related to the leg problems.

Can anyone suggest why this might be happening? what treatments are available?

i would highly suggest that he seek out his ortho surgeon who did the last surgery for at least an eval and also possible obtain an MRI on the low back area too(if he is having any actual pain or other problems further up like c spine or t spine, this should be done on full spinal just to rule this in or out as a possible)? cold feet are usually more related to a vascular type of flow problem which CAN easily stem from a spinal issue too,. mine is. or age. it is kind of a malfunctioning of his vasomotor. did the cold feet thing occur before or after that fall? if he also hit that bad knee, then he most certainly does need this looked at again with MRI too. i have had two seperate surgeries done only one knee a few years ago. it aint fun, but if something was left "undone" or not simply fixed with that first surgery, time and any possible movements/accidents/falls that could exacerbate the knee situation could just be playing a big part in this now. if i were him, i would seek out an eval and consult with the old surgeon just to see what he thinks about his current situation. this could be a knee thing or a spinal thing too ya know?
