I was kicking a football about the other day when I sort of jumped on the ball and fell right on my coccyx on concrete.

Since then, it's been quite painful. Sometimes it doesn't feel too bad, but other times it throbs terribly and causes mild spasms. I find it difficult to run or bend over.

I don't think I've dislocated it because the pain isn't constant, and it isn't any more pronounced when I sit down. Is it bruised? Will I need to see a doctor? How long will it take to heal?

Many thanks.

you should go and see a doctor, and have him check everything out. it should be fine, but it sounRAB like the srt of thing you should have a doctor check just to e

I know this type of pain, the hardest for me after my fall on the ice was to get up after the sitting; I was screaming from pain.

I fall many times and unfortunately have to say pain lasted for years for me.
When many years later I had my lurabar fusion, my surgeon looked at that area and was shocked. First of all that my damaged area never showed on any MRI, CT or discogram, he planned on 6-7 hour surgery, but instead had to do 10 hours surgery. Why?
After my bad falls usually arthritis sets in with age for everyone; this what happened in my case. Arthritis "ate" up all my tail bone and I had to have SIJ and tail bone area fixed, fused and to put prosthesis in it.

This doesn't mean you done same damage or you need a surgery right now, but with time arthritis may set up in it and than pain will be more serious and more problems may occur. You better go and see Spinal Ortho Dr and let him check you out. Take care of it and remeraber nothing goes unpunished if we don't take good care of ourselves when we are young.
Don't hide your head in a sand - help yourself, sweetie!:)

Best of luck to you...
