Clutch: At what point did you guys beef it up or upgrade to aftermarket ?

Mine used to do the same thing. Adjusted the clutch a few times to try and get it to quit slipping and nothing worked. I swapped from Amsoil to dino oil and then to ATF. ATF solved the slipping problem, but caused "hard shifting" and came out like black water at the very next service. I replaced with B&M TS and have been happy ever since. Smooth shifting and no slipping since the swap.

I used the synthetic....picked it up at Advance Auto Parts. It's kind of a blue or purple color which is also good in case any leaks develop. Purple in primary, Pink in tranny (redline), and Mobil 1 V Twin 20-50 in engine will make for easy identification of any sources of leaks.

I did my SE spring over the weekend. I thought it was a tough job. It seemed like I had to remove more then I was supposed. BUt I guess that is what you get with a bagger... And it doesn't fit through the derby cover.

I did the same thing. After 5k miles it still smokes the back tire when I shift into second hard. No noticeable clutch slippage.
