CLR on a rusty bicycle chain. Good or bad idea?

Just use a little WD40.

But if there's enough rust that has you worried (i.e. more than a light coating of surface rust that should wear away while riding,) replace the chain. It is NOT fun to have a chain fail while riding!
 
It sounds like a good idea, for removing the rust and all, but I'm just not sure about what it will do to the composition of the chain. Am I better off using Gunk, or some WD40? Is replacing the whole chain my best option? Thanks!
