I have had my fish tank set up for awhile now, i cant remember exactly but since sometime last year, and recently my water has gotten green and cloudy very fast. I cleaned my fish tank on Sunday and but Tuesday night it was green again.I have a green spotted puffer, a balloon molly, a fire gourami, and a small plecostamous in a 10 gallon tank. I haven't done my cleaning any different than before and it just recently started doing this. When i clean my aquarium i vacuum the gravel, change a bout 40-50%of the water and wash out the filter with tap water. I clean every 2 weeks usually and sometimes i was out part of the filter with tap water (about once a month). I don't know what i am doing wrong and hate looking at this ugly tank.

its maybe becoz of overfeeding and too much light. change just 10% of water every week. and be sure ur filteration is in good way.

Something is causing an algae bloom. It could be over feeding or too much light. Try cutting back on both. You should do a weekly gravel vac, but you don't have to take out as much water as your doing. I wouldn't take out more than 25%.

Well your first problem is you have all those fish in a 10 gallon tank. The rule of thumb is an inch of fish per gallon and that is their adult size. So the plecostamous alone needs a 10 gallon tank even if it only 1-2 inches now. Then the second mistake is you changed out too much water. Your tank is going through new tank syndrome. It is normal for it to be cloudy. The most you should ever change out at a time is 15-20 percent of the water otherwise you risk losing too much good bacteria in the water. I would also add a little aquarium salt maybe a tablespoon and that will help clear up the green and help you fish to stay healthy and not get ich from the stress of the water change. you might also want to change out the carbon pad that will help with the cloudiness. Just don't change out so much water every 2 weeks and change the filter pad once a month and your tank will be good to go.
