There's no place to put these 'detainees' where the eyes of the world could ensure their fair treatment. The US prison system? Nope. Bagram? Hell no. Rendered off to some basement in a secret location where they can effectively "disappear"? No thanks.

Mr Obama should have thought things through before making such a promise...as with his pledge of 'transparency'.
