Hi. 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6 cylinder, 93000 miles well maintained. Sitting inside the truck, engine running, while in park, I hear the engine make a single clicking noise every 12 seconds.. I counted the timing between the clicks and like clockwork it clicks just once exactly every 12 seconds on the button. Closest I came to pinpointing is that you can feel a tiny vibration or jump at the same moment as the noise when you place your hand on the power steering pump while motor is idling. I don't think it would be the power steering pump but that it must be being transferred from somewhere else. Again it only clicks/jumps only once every 12 seconds exactly and not randomly. Not the compressor switching on or off either as the I am not running the A/C. Any thoughts?
Hi Everyone. The noise if from the AC Compressor switching on and off alright. Located just under the power steering pump is why the noise concentrates from that area. I turn off the defrost and the noise is gone. Is it a sign the compressor could be going out? Never noticed the noise before. THANKS ALL.
