cleaning pot from cooking toffee!!?

i made toffee last night and (stupidly) turned the pot upside down in the sink. Today I looked to clean it and it is all hard and burnt on the bottom. Please tell me theres a way to bring this pot back to life!

Fill the pan with water and bring to a boil, scraping with a flipper or spatula.
