class is starting :(

I never bought books until I actually went to the class and made sure that the professor was going to use them. I saved myself from buying a $104 Biology book becuase the professor never even hinted at anything from the book in his tests.

Jane,
You will be fine. Everyone freaks out but I am sure the teachers will not mind if you are late. Even though this website makes it seem as though people's default setting is asshole I am sure you will find someone to show you around. While books are expensive you can sell them back and they are pennies compared to college.

Not to upset you or anything but I go back September 11th, my school underwent renovation of the green sort (we are now a platinum building on the "how much of a hippyland is your school" meter) so we cannot start any sooner.

Crikey. The cost of books is unbelievable. In addition to the used book idea, might want to see if any can be downloaded from the net for a greatly reduced price. Wouldn't work if you need access to them away from your computer though (unless you print out the pertinent sections).

Keep your chins up, all you students out there. Be smart and make us proud. :)

Oh, and I am one of the directionally challenged. Get lost if I try a new way to the grocery store. When going to a new place (college or a new city), I usually get a map, recon before the event, and draw arrows on the map to find my way around. Still get lost, but I end up with a very colorful map.

You'll do fine - good luck, and remember you're doing something for you that will last the rest of your life.

The other thing? That's how most of us spend our lives. Welcome to our world. How you deal with that feeling is a measure of how well you'll do in life. Up until now, you've been more or less told or directed about what to do and how to act. Now, it's all you girl. And go get 'em! Oh, yes, and have fun!
