Are the cost associated with purchasing uniforms viewed as an advantage or disadvantage?

That was one of the questions plz help best answer gets 10 points!

disadvantage for the students and their parents because it is placing an unfair expense on the family, mainly with the recession that we are under going. Parents are losing their homes because of the lack of money, uniforms shouldnt be another cost to worry about

here are 2 points to start with:
it would be an advantage b/c parents would not have to stress over spending $70.00 for a pair of abercrombie jeans and $45.00 for a tank top for the teenager that "needed" the latest fashions.

it would be a disadvantage for the parent that can't even afford the cost of the uniform. whereas the parent and student is perfectly okay wearing walmart or thrift store clothes, it would be quite a bit more costly to buy multiple uniforms.

People look at is as an advantage AND a disadvantage for the following reasons. They think it's a disadvantage because parents are required to pay for the uniforms, which usually consist of a few pair of pants, a few shirts, possibly both long sleeved and short sleeved. The initial cost of this can be high, especially if parents have more than one student that they need to clothe in a uniform.

It's looked at as an advantage because parents only have to buy the students their uniforms. They can cut back on the other clothing that the student has because they'll mainly be wearing the uniform so the need for extra clothing is smaller than if they had to wear different outfits to school all of the time. Parents don't have to worry about buying their children "designer" clothing to fit it. Some parents will donate, or pass on, their children's uniforms once they outgrow or don't need them anymore, so that's another advantage, cost wise.

uniforms are typically cheaper than the clothes most children wear to school, especially the rich kids. Poverty level kids can usually get their uniforms even cheaper.
