Clarity Issues:
Due to work on system in the NE?

Hi all,
My Verizon account was opened 3/24. My husband and son got the free phones which appeared to be fine, but both noticed that the sound quality was poor. Subsequently, my husband exchanged his phone; he was having trouble recognizing voices, not a good thing. There were dropouts and other annoyances.

The quality is better with the new phone, and we encouraged out son to make the exchange as well.

The technician chalks the problems up to a Verizon issue for which an "open ticket" was established shortly after we got out phones--on 3/27. The problem is in the northeast. He insisted that the problem my son was having was due to the network and not the phone, thus my son backed down.

He said there was work going on on the towers and that Verizon was absorbing the Alltel customers, which may be true, however, I did not detect the clarity issues on my Dare.

So what do you think of all of this and is anyone else experiencing problems? I haven't noticed any posts.

I hope I put this in the right place.:)

Sounds a little fishy to me. If the problem is with Verizon's towers, then a lot of people should be having the same problem. Have you checked with other VZW customers, particularly those who have the same phone model? I assume that you have tried upgrading your roaming capabilities by dialing *228 (although if it's a problem with the phone, that probably wouldn't help).

It sounds fishy to me as well. And I am not even talking about talking to people hundreds of miles away; just general usage. So I am curious about any issues others might be having. As I said my husband's phone was exchanged and the new one is better.

The technician pulled up an "open ticket" on this issue on the northeast coast and wouldn't you know it began right after we ported from Sprint.

Thanks for the reply.

Which phone does your son have? Maybe if he nicely insists that Verizon exchange his phone, they will do it. Some phones are just better than others when it comes to call quality, durability, etc. I still say that if it were a tower issue, you'd hear a lot more complaints from all VZW customers using the towers! (BTW, did he try dialing *228, menu option # 2 to upgrade his roaming capability? I would try that before going back to the Verizon store.)
