Clanking sound coming from rear end of Toyota Tacoma?

I have a 97 Tacoma and recently ive noticed a sort of clanking (?) sound coming from the rear end of it. Ive only noticed it at slow speeds so far and i havent really driven at high speeds since ive noticed it. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas on what it could be, and an estimate on how much it would cost to fix. Also, recently my A/C quit blowing cold, and it smells really bad if I do run it. Any ideas on that along with an estimate would be great too. Thanks!

It sounds like your universal joints, or more commonly called your 'u-joins' not too bad of a fix, just get it fixed or it can lock your axles down while driving resulting in a flip in high speed conditions. And the a/c seems like the heater core, about 200.00 after parts and labor, and probably about 150.00-300.00 on the u-joints if that's what it is.

umm the clankin sound could be from ur exhaust.. it cud be loose and for the a/c mine stoped blowin cold air wen i was low on coolent so check tht
