Clairification on PIMS Update/ To Do-s, Agendus

Remember that 42k HANDHELD patch in September for PIMS updates for the T3?

Some of you loaded it, some didn't including me.

Here's an instance where it may help, and I need help or clarification on if it will:

I made a repeating to-do in Agendus, and tagged the "note" with a Bonsai tag, which zips me over to an outline of "sub to-dos."

ALL IS GREAT. Link works, all fine.

Until I hotsynced. Then the To Do went immediately to "NO DATE." Linking still worked, tag ok. I changed it again to "repeat," set date. Hotsynced. Same result - no date.

Is this an Agendus, a P1 "Desktop PIMS" or a TUNGSTEN T3 "thing?" I can make it a "meeting," but then I get that irritating "change all or current" dialog before going to notes; with repeating to-do's I don't. Need HELP on this one or the whole "bonsai link tag thing" is useless to me if the to-do won't repeat properly.

My question has now turned in to a tip for all of you with Bonsai, but brought up another question (what's in the 4.1.4 desktop upgrade?)

I installed 4.1.4 (had not bothered til now) and the problem was still there. Also installed that PIMS handheld update (now I have TWO, the original in ROM and one in RAM . . . great).

One piece of good news . . . now "fix corrupted records" works; never worked properly before with 4.1.2 and instead tried to connect me to the web??!!

I made sure the "old PIMS" were set for "do nothing," and only the "newer ones" set to synchronize (contacts, tasks, calendar, memos plural).

Now the ORIGINAL problem, to re-focus, appeared to be the ToDo itself, but only when created by the Bonsai link FROM Bonsai. When I create a repeating ToDo in Agendus, by itself . . . it's fine and does NOT revert to "no date."

SOLUTION: For those of you with Bonsai, CREATE THE REPEATING TO DO FIRST. Then go to the Bonsai outline and create a link and hit the "jump to" button. You'll create a second to do with the "BZ#" tag in notes. COPY AND PASTE that tag into the "one you're keeping -- the repeating to do. Delete the other one. Now the to do won't revert to "no date" and still refer "Back2Bonsai." The advantages of a repeating to-do over a meeting are 1) no irritating Agendus "change current or all instances" screen before allowing you to get to the notes page, 2) less repeating icons in month view cluttering things up - the to-do recreates itself the following week, 3) no BZ tag in the contacts field, which made it a 2 line to-do.

The "new" desktop upgrade, which I laid over the old one, doesn't seem to be doing much except adding 20MB of "stuff" to the hard drive. I got 15 of that back when I wiped out the "photo desktop folder" and a bunch of stuff associated with Notepad and Expense (spratted on handheld anyway). You get a crash on hotsync until Palm Desktop reinstalls empty folders for Notepad & expense . . . then clear sailing from then on.

I'm curious what exactly are the advantages of 4.1.4; I'm still 6MB short on hard disk space so there's improvement somewhere -- probably in the PIMS management. This is what I'd like input on from anyone who knows (thank you).

Anyway, I learned something about Bonsai tags and hopefully it will help some of you, too.
