civilization III question?

my husband is playing, he started out on an island by himself, now he has ships but can't get them to move outside his border. how do you do this?

Your husband has to either build the Great Lighthouse, learn Magnetism, or take his chances with getting the galley out into sea squares.

If you mean that he literally cannot get them to move, have him try moving them one square at a time.
