Okay, here's the deal. I lived in this country legally for as long as I can remember. The thing is I wasn't born here, so I have to apply for a citizenship. I didn't do that, so I forgot all about it. I was allowed to enlist in the Army because I'm what they call a "Permanent Resident." I recently decided to do ROTC in college. I was sent to the ROTC's LTC program this summer. Unfortunately I haven't been able to contract with the ROTC program because I'm not yet a citizen. I didn't know that I had to be a citizen before I can help defend FREEDOM.
Has anyone been in this situation? If yes, how long did it take to get your citizenship when you applied for it? Who did you go through and what are the procedures?
I really want to be a cadet because I like being a cadet better than being a private. I'm really desperate for answers at this point. Every useful answer will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for you contribution(s).
