I have high-speed internet at home and use a modem. Recently, we bought a laptop for wireless in home use. We also bought the Cisco linksys wireless router. I initally started reading the documentation, then decided just to plug it in and see what happens. I simply connected the new router between the existing modem and the existing desktop computer (using the CAT 5 cable of course). Well, that worked just fine right away. I was on the internet as usual, and the new laptop, with minimal configuration, was up and running wirelessly on the internet. So that's were I left it.
I would like to share a printer attached to the desktop with the new laptop. The desktop runs Windows Vista and has all of the sharing settings enabled. The laptop cannot find the printer, or the desktop for that matter. If I bring up the network map on the desktop, it simply shows the desktop itself, then the router, then the internet. It does not show the laptop (which is up and running). By the way, the laptop is running Windows 7 (or whatever they call it...it is a brand new computer)
I figure there must be some setting on the router...right now its settings are completely default.
It seems the desktop and the laptop are maybe on 2 different networks?
Thanks in advance
