The last two films I have gone to see, the lights have not been turned down when the film starts.
The first time I just thought maybe it was an oversight, though I did find it really distracting at times, especially during dark scenes.
I went again on Saturday and it was the same, I nipped out to the loo and then saw a member of staff so asked them if there was any way they could dim the lights in the theatre, she said 'Sorry, they are safety lights and we can't dim them.'
I find this difficult to believe I have been going to the cinema for years and apart from the lights on the floor to mark out walkways and stairs the theatre has always been in complete darkness (except for the screen).
I'm possibly just being petty but I can't help how I feel. I feel that if I'm going to sit in a theatre with all the lights on I might as well watch the film at home with the tv turned up loud! Lets face it we've all got massive tv's these days, not quite in the scale of the cinema but at least I can turn the lights out!
Has anyone else had experience of this. I reckon it is a growing trend to make it more difficult for the people trying to make cams of the films.
