Chrysler Town & Country engine light?

When the engine light comes on do you have to reset it somehow before it will go back off after you have the problem fixed?
I did take it to get fixed so did they forget to turn it off?
So, I did take it back down there, this time with my husband and guess what? They didn' t fix anything, they didn't even hook it to a computer!! Now it's getting fixed for free. Guess he thought I was just a brainless woman!
 
It will probably reset itself. I have that problem on my car if I don't put the gas cap back on properly.
 
The car has a computer, which is where the code can be read with the cause for the light to come on. The computer is also where you reset the light. If you didn't read the code out of the computer, how do you know if you fixed the problem.

The code will reset it self after the car has been started and driven a number of times (probably in the range of 30). The reason the cycle to reset is so long is to allow the owner to get the car to a mechanic. Once the code is reset, it's gone and the mechanic will never know why the light came on the first place.
