Chrysler 9 1/4 differential question?

I have a 1996 dodge ram with a chrysler 9 1/4 differential and recently had the bearings re-done in the rear end and my mechanic told me that i need a new clutch pack and spider gear assembly. I was wondering what difference these new parts will make in my rear end i believe if i replace them it will turn my differential into a limmited slip again like it was stock, instead of an open differential how it is now?

Also if i decide to replace these parts i was told at an auto parts store that i could buy a clutch pack assembely which would replace the old one but i am wondering if that would include the spider gears and is that worth 600$ or should it be cheaper?

thank

you can actually buy a used differential cheaper than you can replace parts in that one and still come out ahead on money, you don't get the spider gears when buying the clutch pack on most kit only the clutch pack, when mine went bad i replaced it for 250 bucks, which was a lot cheaper than repairing it, there may be a kit out there that comes with the gears that i haven't used yet,but im not aware of it,good luck.
