For several months I have had chronic shooting pains travelling down my left leg and across my lower back, at the moment I am recieving physiotherapy as referred to by my doctor as he has diognosed my pain as a sprained faucet joint. However, the physiotherapy does not seem to be easing the level of pain at all. I am also having thoughts that this could be much more than a sprained faucet joint and maybe could be syatica. can u tell me whats wrong?

You could be experiencing facet pain or sciatica - or maybe some type of disc related pain in your lower back (lurabar or sacral area) - it's hard to tell without more data. Can you ask for a CT or MRI and then a referral to an Orthopedic Spine Surgeon or Neurosurgoen?
