Hi I am asking for opinions, advice anything really, I am 24yo and have had chronic back pain for YEARS. I have now had a pinched nerve in my neck for over 2 months that causes pain to radiate into my shoulder and down my arm. I have been in pt for 2 weeks and honestly, it is making it worse it seems. I am ALSO 20 weeks pregnant with my third child. My dr is weary about giving me pain meRAB but the percocet she HAS given me is gone and seems to be the only thing that works. I have tried heat, ice, tylenol, now pt, Please someone tell me what to do I am having headaches from the pt adjustments and I don't know what to do, the pain makes me very irritated and it is not good seeing how i take care of my 5yo and 2yo boys full time.

Have you had an MRI yet? In my own case the adjustments from the Chiropracter and Osteopath seemed to make me worse. When they finally got around to sending me for an MRI it showed that Osteophytes were impinging on spinal nerves and the adjustments were causing them to dig in causing pain and paralysis.

Hi Leilanbabies!

I have had severe neck pain, and stiff neck where I was unable turn to left side. I also had pt, heat, ice. I also had traction to my neck, when it pulled up it felt good. Another thing I did was sleep with a rolled up towel under my neck. I know I did not have pinched nerve in the neck, but maybe some traction and the towel my help relief some of your pain. chacha1

No, I havent hd an mri because I ampregnant they refuse to do any xrays or mris. I am totally stuck, and my dr doesnt want to give me any more pain meRAB...UGH.

This is extremely dangerous if you are allowing yourself to be manipulated without the proper xrays done. Please think about this, all it takes is one wrong manipulation and you can be hurt for the remainder of your lifetime.

Have you tried heat, spa, ice, tylenol, accupuncture (used in conception and pregnancy all the time), or relaxation tapes? Will they let you use products such as icy hot/bengay or therma care wraps with your pregnancy? If you are seeing a chiropractor, ask him about a product called biofreeze. It is used often by chiro's and usually must be purchased online. The bottle does say to ask your doctor if you are pregnant but hey its an idea.

How about a brace/back support underwear - don't they make them for pregnant women?

Hope this tidbits help you some and I pray that you feel better soon.

I just wanted to add my support. A friend of mine took Tylenol 3's for sciatica during her pregnancy (the last 16 weeks) with no addiction problems for the babies (multiples).

I sometimes think her family took issue with the T3's but without them she couldn't sleep, move, walk (she had 4 perfectly fine preemie boy/girl twins).

The towel and other suggestions sound like they may provide you some relief as well. Perhaps your doctor might agree to very light use of Tylenol 3's?
Best wishes,
T

thank you for your advice, yes, I have tried just about all of those except the acupuncture because I cannot afford it and my insurance does not cover it :( The only thing that seems to work is the pain meRAB, I'm just having trouble getting them, I've doe alot of research on the risks and addiction seems to be the biggest but isn't that something that can be fixed? I'm just desperate for some relief, I have two little boys who do not allow me to relax!
