I understand that Chrome runs a process for each tab, but shortly after I open Chrome, it runs with 2 processes and then will eventually increase to 5 or 6, even if I only have 2 tabs running. At first I figured it ran 2 or 3 processes per tab, but oftentimes it'll run an odd number like 5 processes (even if I only have 2 tabs opened).
Does anyone know how to fix this problem? I've already had my first crash, and I assume many more will come if I don't fix this. I switched to Chrome because Firefox was crashing every few minutes, I would be incredibly dismayed to find that Chrome crashes constantly because of an overlooked glitch as well. Any help is greatly appreciated!
Update: I should add that I literally just installed Chrome - I've had it for less than an hour. So there shouldn't be any extra extensions that are making this happen. I've downloaded Chrome and Chrome alone.
When 1 tab is open on startup, there are initially 2 Chrome processes running. It eventually increases considerably.
