In the bible slavery is condoned. There is even instructions on how to "care" for your slave. Today in most of the world, slavery is a grave crime against humanity. Many countries fight for human rights, and abhor those that continue to own slaves. There are hefty prison sentences as well.
Marriage is another. While many hold it high up on a pedestal, in the US, 50% of marriages end in divorce. It really isn't that different in most places. I'm for divorce really (considering that some divorces happen because of abusive spouses or infidelity), and I don't consider marriage to be that important, but that is my feeling.
Many Christians today would also cry foul at a man selling his daughter into marriage. Or would shun anyone who would dare even suggest that a woman that was raped must marry the rapist.
So PLEASE, please, pretty please tell me. If these things can be so radically changed, in regards to freedom, human decency and human rights, despite the fact that they are either condoned or commanded against in the bible, WHY is it so hard to leave homosexuals alone? Or hell, show a little Christian compassion?
**Note: This entire question only applies to Christians of this mentality.
