Christians-why don't you use the Book of James when preaching "faith only" without

works saves you? I know that Jesus, through His loving mercy and endless atonement saves us and judges us. Won't he be judging the way we lived our lives? Those are my "works" right? How I treated others, whether I did the best I could to live His teachings and obey the commandments, what I did with the time he gave me on earth, these are my works. What do you consider "works" and does it even matter if all you need to do is say you believe in Christ?

The Lord says:
"These people come near to me with their mouth
and honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
Their worship of me
is made up only of rules taught by men."

Isaiah 29:13,14

yes it also says in the book of James faith without works is dead, but it could be also argued that in a sense it is faith, but it must be at faith that transforms the individual, or it is not real faith

A God that could damn a good person that does right to others to eternal torment and save worthless, evil people who believe, is not a god worthy of worship.

Plus, ALL Jesus's message is centered at loving yout fellow human and being exceedingly fair towards them.
If you are not fair to you fellow humans, how can you expect to be saved? How can you expect God's fairness when you have been unfair?

I've often wondered what the explanation from the faith alone brigade is for the Book of James. Seems to be pretty clearly stated in there that works are an essential part of the equation - and that real faith will be shown by works. They never really seem to deal with this one properly.

James doesn't say that works are capable of saving you. What he says is that if you don't walk the walk, if you don't actually become that which you profess to be, you're going to fall.

Not all of us believe that only faith will allow you into heaven. It just sounds like a lame excuse to avoid actually doing good deeds in the name of Jesus.
