Christians, Thor went fishing with the Giant Hymir, is this a fact or a fable?

The story goes that Thor convinced the Giant Hymir to go fishing with him. So, they struck out in Hymir's boat but Hymir wouldn't give Thor any bait. So, Thor, being Thor, struck the head off of Hymir's favorite ox to use as bait.
They caught a few whales but Thor wanted bigger fish to fry (If you'll pardon the pun) and convinced Hymir to row out to deeper waters.
There, using the ox-head as bait, he caught Jörmungandr the world serpent.
Thor pulled so hard that his foot pushed through the bottom of Hymir's boat! Hymir, afraid that pulling Jörmungandr out of the water would cause Ragnarok, cut the line and let the World Serpent get away.

Now, since the story was told, virtually unchanged for over 500 years, and is well preserved to this day, you'd have to agree that the story was based on a real event. Right?
I mean, this IS the exact same logic you use to "prove" the validity of the fables and myths in the bible, so it should be the same with other religions, no?
Athey's...
Then please provide proof that it's not the same. If you can that is...
I'll wait...
"Most of the bible is historically veriviable"

I'm guessing you were trying to type "verifiable". Which though spelled correctly, is still an outright lie.
The bible is so chock full of errors, inconsistencies and plain BS that anyone who takes it as anything other than a book of fairy tales, should be committed.
