The superior atheist intellect didn't seem to work out so well for the Soviet Union. How far did atheism advance the Soviets (recall the genocide by the hands of the Soviets)?
 
He would deign to substitute one drug for another. The people were oppressed, but the dream didn't become a reality. Instead, a nightmare for all of western* Europe and Asia, where that sentiment grew to such a backlash I am sure he probably at one point regretted his words.

The idea of socialism though, went on to fuel our social programs, and in fact did spread out in a good way in the west. Good medical programs is one of those things.
