Christians, how familiar would you say you are with the church's history?

I'm taking Christian Heritage this semester and I'm constantly astounded by how little I previously knew about my church's history. I was wondering if only certain denominations emphasize church history (I know some do), or if I have always had my head in the sand. If you would, please post your denomination (if applicable) and then your opinion.
T1, that has nothing to do with my question. I'm sorry that your local churches haven't been effective, but maybe that is God's way of calling you to start something in your community. Sorry if I sound offensive, but please don't whine about things when you can take the initiative to make a difference.
I'm actually starting to agree with Everard. I realize that ultimately, Christianity is about the one-on-one relationship with Christ, but to be ignorant of one's roots is simply foolish.
Oh! I'm sorry everyone. I asked you to post your denominations, but I didn't say my own. I am Baptist.

Yes, I researched it quite extensively. Read all the pros and cons. Visited the church many times before I actually became a member. I did not want it to be the truth because I did not want to change my lifestyle. It took me 12 years to decide. But now I am a Jehovah's Witness,
